Teenage Deep Cleanse Pre & Post Care
Our Teenage Deep Cleanse is a calm, educational clinical facial for younger skin. Here is how to prepare and how to look after your teen's skin afterwards.
Before your treatment
- The minimum age we treat is 14. Clients under 18 must have a parent or guardian present in the treatment room for the whole appointment.
- Please complete the client forms before the appointment.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, fake tan and active exfoliants for 3 to 5 days before the appointment.
- Let us know about any acne medications (tablets or creams), allergies or skin conditions, and any recent treatments.
On the day
- The treatment includes a double cleanse and exfoliation, steam, extractions when needed, a soothing mask, finishing serums, creams and SPF, and an optional mineral makeup finish. Dermalux LED light therapy can be added.
- Your teen's clinician explains what is happening in the skin and gives simple home-care advice.
After your treatment: the first 24–48 hours
- There is little to no downtime. Some redness where extractions were done is normal and usually settles within a few hours.
- Avoid touching, picking or squeezing the skin.
- Skip heavy makeup for the rest of the day; the mineral makeup finish is fine.
- Avoid heavy exercise, heavy sweating and swimming for the rest of the day.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase, and wear SPF every day.
The following days and weeks
- Follow the simple home routine your clinician recommends. A consistent home routine matters most for teenage skin.
- Avoid scrubs and harsh products, and don't add new products without checking with us.
When to contact us
- Please contact us if redness or breakouts get worse rather than better after a few days, or if you notice signs of infection.
- If you have severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, rapidly spreading swelling or a high temperature, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
