RF Skin Tightening in Canberra

As we age, skin loses firmness, and the jawline, neck and eye area often show it first. Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening at our Canberra clinic is a non-invasive way to lift, firm and smooth the skin by stimulating your own collagen and elastin.

What is RF skin tightening?

Opus RF Skin Tightening uses unipolar radiofrequency, combined with a rotational massage action, to gently heat the deeper layers of the skin. Alma designed its UniFace applicator specifically for facial skin tightening. This stimulates collagen and elastin, which helps lift, firm and smooth sagging skin. RF also improves hydration retention, firmness and texture. It can be combined with skin needling or fractional resurfacing for a more intensive result, as recommended by your clinician.

Who it suits

RF skin tightening may suit you if you have:

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity.
  • A soft or less defined jawline.
  • A crepey neck.
  • Fine lines.
  • Skin that has lost firmness and texture.

Treatment areas include the lower face, eyes and neck. The neck, chest, hands or eyes can also be added as additional areas.

Before your treatment

Hydration is key. Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment and on the day, and arrive well hydrated. Let your clinician know about any recent skin procedures or skin sensitivity.

What to expect

Your skin is prepared before treatment with active skin care and/or LED. During the treatment, your clinician uses the Opus RF device to gently heat the deeper layers. Afterwards, you may feel mild warmth or pinkness. Opus RF gives an immediate skin finish, while the radiofrequency also works beneath the surface to support collagen renewal, so changes can continue to develop over time. A course is usually recommended; your clinician will advise.

Even better together

  • Opus RF before skin needling: warming and stimulating the tissue first, as part of a more advanced rejuvenation treatment.
  • A chemical peel before Opus RF: selected professional chemical peels may be performed before Opus RF when clinically appropriate.
  • Opus RF Skin Tightening + Plasma Resurfacing: combines radiofrequency tightening with fractional plasma resurfacing. Enhancements for this combination include meso glides, exosomes and the Uber Pro Peel.

Your dermal clinician will determine whether a peel, Opus RF, skin needling or a combination is most appropriate for your skin.

Concerns it can help

  • Ageing: lifts, firms and smooths sagging skin, and softens fine lines.
  • Dull, dry and dehydrated skin: improves hydration retention, firmness and texture.
  • Scarring: texture improvement when combined with resurfacing, if recommended.

Aftercare

No recovery period is needed, so you can return to your normal activities straight away. Temporary warmth or pinkness may occur.

  • Keep drinking plenty of water and keep your skin hydrated.
  • Continue your usual skincare unless your clinician advises otherwise.
  • Wear SPF every day.
  • Follow any personalised recommendations from your clinician.

Our approach

Every treatment at Skin Wellness Academy is part of the Skin Transformation System, our four-phase framework for holistic and clinical skin care. It integrates the best of Western scientific research, Eastern medicine and integrative wellness philosophy. It also looks at your biology, behaviour, goals and habitat to find the root causes of your skin concerns.

You're not just another patient in a clinic. Our dermal clinicians guide you through each phase of your skin journey:

  • Strategy: understand your skin, history, lifestyle and goals.
  • Rebuild: restore skin barrier, strength and healthy function.
  • Regenerate: stimulate healthy cellular renewal.
  • Maintain: protect results and age gracefully.

The strongest treatment is not always the best treatment. The right treatment is the one your skin is ready to use well. That's why all new clients begin with a Skin Strategy Session. Until we've properly assessed you and your skin, we can't recommend the best products, routine or treatments for you.
