Hydradermabrasion in Canberra
Hydradermabrasion is a maintenance treatment in our Maintain range at Skin Wellness Academy in Canberra. It offers deep cleansing and hydration for smoother texture, fewer breakouts and a fresh, radiant finish.
Cleanse. Exfoliate. Hydrate. Glow.
What is hydradermabrasion?
Hydradermabrasion uses a specialised probe with gentle suction and a water jet. It deep-cleanses the pores, helping clear blackheads, milia and whiteheads, while hydrating the skin. It's an essential skin treatment designed to keep your skin clear and balanced between more intensive treatments, or as a regular maintenance treatment on its own.
Who it suits
Hydradermabrasion suits you if you have:
- Congestion, blackheads or whiteheads.
- Breakouts or oily, problem-prone skin.
- Dull, dry or dehydrated skin that needs a radiance boost.
- Uneven texture.
- Skin that needs regular maintenance as part of your treatment plan.
Before your treatment
- Keep your skin well hydrated and drink plenty of water before your appointment.
- Let us know if you bruise easily or have fragile or visible capillaries.
- Tell your clinician about any recent skin procedures, any medications that may affect your skin or increase bruising, and whether your skin is currently irritated, inflamed or compromised.
What to expect
Your clinician uses cosmeceutical skincare selected for your unique skin condition. The treatment starts with a double cleanse and exfoliation. Hydradermabrasion then deep-cleanses and hydrates, and a customised rubber setting mask from the O Cosmedics Medi Facial range follows. We finish with serums, cream and SPF. Your clinician may recommend add-on enhancements:
- Extractions, for clearing blackheads and reducing congestion.
- A specialised hydrating and nourishing mask, for added moisture.
- LED light therapy, which calms inflammation and supports healing.
- An enzyme peel or a Dermaceutic peel.
Even better together
Hydradermabrasion works well as a stand-alone skin refresh, but it can also be part of a more advanced facial treatment, depending on what your skin needs. Your dermal clinician may combine it with LED therapy, collagen masks, hydrating masks, skin infusions, selected chemical peels or other personalised clinical treatments.
Concerns it can help
- Problem skin: deep cleansing for reduced breakouts.
- Teenage skin: helps manage congestion in younger skin.
- Dull, dry and dehydrated skin: deep hydration and exfoliation to restore radiance.
- Scarring: smoother-looking texture as part of a plan.
- Sensitive and reactive skin: when recommended by your clinician.
Aftercare
Hydradermabrasion generally has little to no downtime, and most clients can return to their usual activities afterwards. Some temporary redness or sensitivity can occur. Because the treatment uses controlled suction, temporary suction marks or mild bruising are also possible, especially if you have delicate skin or fragile capillaries, or bruise easily. Your clinician will adjust the suction to suit your skin.
After your treatment:
- Keep your skin well hydrated and keep drinking plenty of water.
- Use the gentle skincare your clinician prescribes.
- Wear SPF 50 every day.
- Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking at your skin.
- Follow any personalised advice from your clinician.
Any temporary redness, sensitivity or small suction mark should settle naturally.
Our approach
Every treatment at Skin Wellness Academy is part of the Skin Transformation System, our four-phase framework for holistic and clinical skin care. It integrates the best of Western scientific research, Eastern medicine and integrative wellness philosophy. It also looks at your biology, behaviour, goals and habitat to find the root causes of your skin concerns.
You're not just another patient in a clinic. Our dermal clinicians guide you through each phase of your skin journey:
- Strategy: understand your skin, history, lifestyle and goals.
- Rebuild: restore skin barrier, strength and healthy function.
- Regenerate: stimulate healthy cellular renewal.
- Maintain: protect results and age gracefully.
The strongest treatment is not always the best treatment. The right treatment is the one your skin is ready to use well. That's why all new clients begin with a Skin Strategy Session. Until we've properly assessed you and your skin, we can't recommend the best products, routine or treatments for you.
