Hydradermabrasion Pre & Post Care

Clinician giving a facial treatment with a handheld device to a client lying on a treatment bed

Hydradermabrasion generally has little to no downtime, and most clients can return to their usual activities after treatment. Here is how to prepare, and how to look after your skin afterwards.

Before your treatment

  • Keep your skin well hydrated, and drink plenty of water before your appointment.
  • Let us know if you bruise easily, or have fragile or visible capillaries.
  • Tell your Dermal Clinician about any recent skin procedures, and any medications that may affect your skin or increase bruising.
  • Let us know if your skin is currently irritated, inflamed or compromised.

On the day

  • Hydradermabrasion is generally comfortable. You may feel a light pulling sensation from the suction, particularly around more delicate areas of the face. Your Dermal Clinician adjusts the intensity to suit your skin, sensitivity and needs.
  • Immediately afterwards your skin may feel cleaner, smoother, softer, more hydrated, plumper, brighter and refreshed.

After your treatment: the first 24–48 hours

  • Some temporary redness or sensitivity can occur.
  • Because the treatment uses controlled suction, temporary suction marks or mild bruising are possible. This is more likely if you have delicate skin or fragile capillaries, or bruise easily.
  • Keep your skin well hydrated and keep drinking plenty of water.
  • Use the gentle skincare your Dermal Clinician prescribes.
  • Wear SPF 50 every day.
  • Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking at your skin.
  • Follow any personalised advice from your Dermal Clinician.

The following days and weeks

  • Any temporary redness, sensitivity or small suction mark should generally settle naturally.
  • Hydradermabrasion can be an occasional skin refresh or a regular part of your personalised plan within our Skin Transformation System. Your Dermal Clinician will recommend the right frequency for your skin.
  • If an enzyme or Dermaceutic peel add-on was included, follow the Chemical Peels care guide for active skincare and sun protection.

When to contact us

  • Please contact us if redness, bruising or sensitivity is getting worse rather than better after 48 hours, or if you notice anything that concerns you.
  • If you have severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, rapidly spreading swelling or a high temperature, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Call us on 0481 300 574 or email info@skinwellnessacademy.com.
