Laser Lip Enhancement Pre & Post Care

Laser lip enhancement is a needle-free laser treatment for lip colour, definition and texture, with minimal downtime.
Before your treatment
- Tell us if you have a history of cold sores, as laser treatment can sometimes trigger a flare. Please don't book while you have an active cold sore.
- Tell us if you have cosmetic lip tattoo (lip blush or liner), because laser can darken some cosmetic tattoo pigments.
- Avoid lip scrubs and exfoliating lip products for 3 days beforehand, and keep your lips well hydrated.
- Arrive without lipstick or lip products if possible.
On the day
- Your clinician cleanses and prepares the area, then performs the laser treatment at settings chosen for you. You will wear protective eyewear.
- Your lips may feel warm and look slightly flushed or fuller straight afterwards.
After your treatment: the first 24–48 hours
- Downtime is minimal. Keep your lips hydrated with a gentle balm and follow your clinician's advice.
- Avoid very hot food and drinks, and lip products with strong flavours or plumping ingredients, for the rest of the day.
- Avoid saunas, hot yoga and heavy sweating for 24 hours.
The following days and weeks
- Use a lip balm with SPF every day.
- Avoid lip scrubs and exfoliating lip products for 3 to 5 days.
- A course may be recommended. Your clinician will advise on spacing.
When to contact us
- Please contact us if you develop a cold sore, blistering, swelling that is increasing, or anything that concerns you.
- If you have severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, rapidly spreading swelling or a high temperature, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
