Skin Tag and Spot Removal in Canberra
Small skin lesions like skin tags, sunspots, milia and broken capillaries are common, and they can be treated quickly in clinic. At Skin Wellness Academy in Canberra, we offer cryotherapy, diathermy and targeted IPL or laser for minor lesion and spot removal.
What is lesion and spot removal?
We use three methods, chosen for the type of lesion:
- CryoPen cryotherapy uses a precise microjet of cold gas to freeze the targeted tissue. It's used for suitable benign lesions such as skin tags, sunspots, pigmented spots and seborrhoeic keratoses. A small scab forms and then falls off as the skin heals.
- Diathermy treats skin tags, spider veins, broken capillaries, red spots, milia and sebaceous hyperplasia. It's bloodless and needs no stitches.
- Targeted IPL or laser reduces pigment spots, hyperpigmentation and sunspots, and removes visible vessels.
Who it suits
Lesion and spot removal may suit you if you have:
- Skin tags.
- Sunspots or pigmented spots.
- Milia.
- Spider veins, broken capillaries or red spots.
- Sebaceous hyperplasia.
- Seborrhoeic keratoses.
Every lesion is assessed first, and we only remove it if it's benign, such as selected skin tags, milia and cherry angiomas. If a lesion looks even slightly suspicious, a skin check will be required before treatment.
What to expect
Your clinician assesses each lesion first. If it's benign, they treat it with the chosen method; if it looks even slightly suspicious, you'll need a skin check before it can be treated. It can be booked as a stand-alone treatment, or as an add-on for a small number of lesions alongside another treatment. With cryotherapy, a scab forms and falls off naturally.
Concerns it can help
- Pigmentation: sunspots and pigmented spots.
- Skin redness and vascularity: spider veins, broken capillaries and red spots.
- Ageing: sun-related spots and seborrhoeic keratoses.
Aftercare
A small scab, crusting or temporary darkening may occur. Let any scab fall off naturally, and follow your clinician's aftercare advice.
Our approach
Every treatment at Skin Wellness Academy is part of the Skin Transformation System, our four-phase framework for holistic and clinical skin care. It integrates the best of Western scientific research, Eastern medicine and integrative wellness philosophy. It also looks at your biology, behaviour, goals and habitat to find the root causes of your skin concerns.
You're not just another patient in a clinic. Our dermal clinicians guide you through each phase of your skin journey:
- Strategy: understand your skin, history, lifestyle and goals.
- Rebuild: restore skin barrier, strength and healthy function.
- Regenerate: stimulate healthy cellular renewal.
- Maintain: protect results and age gracefully.
The strongest treatment is not always the best treatment. The right treatment is the one your skin is ready to use well. That's why all new clients begin with a Skin Strategy Session. Until we've properly assessed you and your skin, we can't recommend the best products, routine or treatments for you.
