O Cosmedics Lymphatic Therapy Pre & Post Care

Kim performing a facial massage with cooling tools

O Cosmedics Lymphatic Therapy is a customised oxygenating treatment, powered by the Pro Dermal Active O Biome Oxygenating Therapy system, that supports lymphatic flow, hydration, circulation and skin vitality. Here is how to prepare and how to care for your skin afterwards.

Quick care reminder

  • Hydrate: keep your skin calm, clean and well hydrated.
  • Keep cool: avoid heat, exercise, saunas and hot showers for 24 hours.
  • No actives: avoid acids, retinol, scrubs and enzymes for 5 days.
  • SPF 50+: protect your skin from UV every day.

Before your treatment

  • For about 3 to 5 days before your appointment, unless your Dermal Clinician advises otherwise: avoid retinol and prescription vitamin A, strong exfoliating acids, scrubs and home peeling products, and anything that has recently irritated your skin.
  • Keep your skin well hydrated and use SPF every day.
  • Tell us about any new medications, active skin infections, cold sores, recent cosmetic treatments or changes to your health.
  • Your Dermal Clinician may prescribe specific preparation products for your skin concerns.

On the day

  • As the O Biome setting mask sets, it becomes very firm and creates a strong compression phase of about 45 minutes. You may feel tightness, pulsing or pressure, warmth, and more awareness of circulation beneath the mask. It can feel unusual the first time, but it should not be painful.
  • Remain very still and avoid talking or facial movement while the mask sets.
  • Bring earphones if you would like to listen to a meditation, music or a podcast and fully relax.
  • Your Dermal Clinician stays with you throughout and can adjust the experience if needed.
  • When the mask is removed, you may see a temporary flush or visible dilated arterioles. This is an expected response to the compression and increased circulation, and usually settles within about 15 minutes.

After your treatment: the first 24–48 hours

  • Keep your skin calm and well hydrated, using the products your Dermal Clinician recommends. The O Biome Hydrating Spray may be recommended to mist through the day when your skin feels warm, tight or dehydrated.
  • For about 24 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, spas, excessive heat or overheating, and swimming pools and heavily chlorinated water.
  • Do not pick, scratch or peel the skin.

The following days and weeks

  • For about 5 days, avoid retinol and prescription vitamin A, AHA and BHA acids, scrubs, enzymes, home peels and strong exfoliating products. Restart active skincare only once your skin feels completely comfortable.
  • Avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure for about 5 to 10 days. Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every morning and reapply when outdoors.
  • Avoid waxing and other irritating hair removal over the treated area for about 14 days.
  • Unless prescribed by your Dermal Clinician, avoid other intensive treatments over the same area for about 14 days, including chemical peels, IPL, laser, intensive clinical facials and other resurfacing procedures.
  • Occasionally, some clients notice temporary dryness, sensitivity or mild irritation over the following days, or, if congestion is present, a temporary increase in breakouts.
  • Many clients notice an immediate improvement in hydration, luminosity and freshness. For best results, treatment is often enjoyed every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your skin quality, concerns and overall treatment plan.

When to contact us

  • Please contact us if you experience increasing redness or swelling, significant or worsening discomfort, a strong or persistent rash, significant irritation, blistering, signs of infection, or any response that feels very different from what your Dermal Clinician prepared you for. If you are unsure, please contact us; we would always prefer you check in with us rather than worry at home.
  • If you have severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, rapidly spreading swelling or a high temperature, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
